Philosophy
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to grow and develop at his or her own rate in an environment where positive self-esteem is stressed, and creativity and play are encouraged. At All Saints we provide an atmosphere where learning activities are developmentally appropriate and the children are involved in the process.
Goals
To provide a safe, nurturing, relaxed and nonsexist environment with caring adults who enhance self-esteem, encourage independence and offer an abundance of developmentally appropriate activities.
To respect each child's individuality and encourage their respect for others through social skills.
To allow children to explore their environment and be active, inquisitive, creative learners while developing at their own individual pace.
To empower children by allowing them to make their own choices, take risks, and share their ideas so that they can reach their optimum potential.
To help children develop and enthusiasm for learning, where school is a positive place to be.
To foster good communication with parents so that they feel comfortable that their children are in a safe, secure place with adults they can trust.
To encourage self discipline by having limits clearly defined, consistently enforced and kept to a minimum.
Curriculum
Children feel secure when there is a sense of order to their day. Each room has a schedule so the children know "what will happen next." Many activities are offered and a few of them are listed on this website. Emphasis is always on active involvement, creativity and exploration.
- Art ~Emphasis is on the process not the product. Creative art is offered through paint, collage, color, cutting... unlimited possibilities.
- Social Skills ~ Learning to share, growing in cooperative play, group time, eating together, waiting a turn.
- Religion ~ Christian emphasis, daily Thank You prayer, Christmas program and Weekly Bible Story.
- Group Time ~ Coming together for story telling, sharing and music.
- Cooking ~ Making snacks, measuring, pouring, mixing and tasting.
- Science ~ Planting, animals, cooking, bug hunting, exploring and looking.
- Intellectual ~ Colors, numbers, shapes, and reading readiness encompasses all areas of the curriculum since preschoolers learn through active involvement.
- Physical ~ Small motor development through the use of scissors, crayons, painting and manipulative toys. Large motor development through climbing, running, jumping, swinging, bikes, dancing, etc.
- Play ~ Children "try on" roles and solve problems through their play. It is their work.
- Language ~ Learning to express needs, using words to solve problems, and daily language is encouraged.
- Music ~ Daily songs, fingerplays, rhythm.
Admission Policy
All Saints Preschool is open to any boy or girl aged two through five years. All races, religions and national origins are welcome.
